Message everything tightly with plastic cling wrap... the packing stuff, not Saran Wrap. Heads were wrapped separately from the block. Clean everything up as best you can. I'd throw in a couple of dessicant packages to retain any moisture. Keep the girdle on. Impact will be fine to remove head bolts, careful of the cams, though.

I assume you'll have work done to the engine before re-assembly?
